Funds Raised From Simply Tsfat Concert Donated to Help Residents of the North
On August 17, 2006, Torat Reva Yerushalayim sponsored a “Simply Tsfat” concert in Solidarity with the residents of Northern Israel. Proceeds from the concert were set aside to help residents of the North who suffered during the war in Lebanon.
On November 26, 2006, Sharona and Josh Halickman traveled to Haifa to see where the funds could best be distributed.
The Effie Institute seemed like the perfect place to contribute the funds raised. The institute (www.efi.org.il) is named in memory of Capt. Effie Chovers, who fell in the Lebanese war in June 1982.
The Effie institute helps children who are suffering from impaired learning ability.
According to Noga Lachter, Director of the Institute, most of the children who attend classes at the Effie institute were displaced from their homes during the war this past summer. Most of the parents were unable to go to work due to the situation and suffered great financial losses.
Many of the families are having trouble paying for the already subsidized education that the Effie institute provides. Thanks to the funds raised, students can get back to their regular routines and receive the individually tailored education that they desperately need.
Thanks again to the sponsors of the concert as well as to all those who attended!
